The Story Behind Rebel Racing I took delivery of the car in July of 1993. After reading a lot of magazines and planning out the modifications I thought that a set of heads/intake and exhaust/gears would be all that I would want to do to it........well, as most will agree this was just the start. Although the car was a daily driver, it was always garaged and put away for the winter months so I was able to plan out the mods in stages far in advance as $$ allowed. I never even planned to race it (that plan however didn't last long). After I did the first round of mod's came the drag suspension and then the S-Trim supercharger. At this point I heard of a race in Texas run by Fun Ford Weekend (FFW). Although we were DQ'd for opening the trunk ( not allowed in True Street--didn't read the rules as good as I should have) I was hooked. From there we continued to run in FFW and a couple of local events. Take a look under the page "Events & Accomplishments" for all the places we have been and how we did. Up to this point it might be worth mentioning that we DROVE the car to all those events, sometimes as far as 2600 miles return!! We didn't have a truck or trailer so everything was loaded up and we set off to the races. Near the end we were driving a 10 second car, racing it and returning home. We were very fortunate, and never had a parts breakage while away. One particular accomplishment we earned that I am particular proud of is winning Editor's Choice at FFW Cordova. This also earned us a photo shoot for Muscle Mustang's And Fast Fords magazine--this finally hit the news stands in February 2004. The summer of 2001 was a "work in progress", the car was apart for the entire season but we feel it was worth it. During this downtime we installed a A4 billet stroker motor with a Vortech YS-Trim Supercharger along with a BIG fuel system and a Performance Automatic SuperComp C4 (check out the page "See The Combination"). In the planning stages we had thought of taking a shot in NMRA Renegade but, after seeing that it would take a VERY,VERY low 9 second car (and now low 8's aren't out of the ordinary) to consistantly win, we are going to continue with FFW, NMCA and now the NMRA's Wild Street/True Street classes. True Street involves a tech in procedure for the usual safety equipment as well as all the regular street pieces (lights, horn, wipers, ect.). After that all the cars go on a 30 mile escorted cruise to weed out the hard core race cars with tags. We then return to the track and are allowed a 30 minute cool down period where a strict closed hood policy is inforced. At this point all the cars are called to the lanes and we make 3 back to back passes. An average is taken form the runs and a winner is declared. There are also prizes/$$ for the lowest 9,10,11,12,13,14,15 place entries as well. Even though it is a trailered race car now, it is still a blast to drive on the street as well as the 30 mile road cruise portion of the race. Ultimately, we want this to stay fun, and so far it has. At this point I'd like to say the major part of the car is finished but as new parts come out and if our sponsors generousity continues, this race car, like every other one out there is always evolving :) We are planning to make 4-6 events during the 2009 season--we hope to see some of you there!! Please take a moment and look over our site and let us know what you like or don't like--THANKS!! Special Mention....... Lastly, but CERTAINLY not least I want to thank my wife, Felicia for all her help and support. You can see a picture of her pushing the car through the staging lanes during World Ford Challenge 1, in Bolwing Green--she is big help and none of this would be possible without her!!
